The Ottawa River: 400 Years of Encounters

When Champlain began travelling up the Ottawa River in 1613, he was looking for the North Sea. He embarks on this journey thanks to his Algonquin allies who know the country and provide canoes and guides. At that time, many milestones in the history of the Outaouais were already in place. The exhibition reflects the importance of the theme of the meeting of peoples, but also of the natural wealth and rich heritage that the Ottawa River represents. This exhibition is only available in French. See more
