New paths forward

Watson's Mill in full fall colours

We hope all in our Heritage community enjoyed the Thanksgiving long weekend!  We value and give thanks for all that You continue to do, or support – especially during these challenging times.

We also give thanks for the life and contributions of Museopark General Director, Jean Malavoy.  Jean will be much missed, but his spirit will reside in the resurrected iconic Sugar Shack (recently destroyed by fire).

It was good to connect with our Members, albeit virtually, during our recent Annual General Meeting.  With their approval, we’re pleased to introduce  our new and continuing Board Members:

Jim Dean, President
Jaime Morse, Vice President
Britt Braaten, Secretary
Sébastien Labelle, Treasurer
André Mersereau
Cindy Stelmakowich
Kimberley MacDonald
Sarah Catterall
Joanna Dean

As reflected in their bios, they bring a great complement of skills, diversity and enthusiasm to the Connexion!

We also thanked outgoing Board director David Dean for his contributions (yes, the Dean’s do seem to have it!).  His insights, wit, and student staff sourcing, will be missed.

Your insights would also be appreciated, in support of my new role serving as the Heritage/Museums Caucus (English) representative for the Cultural Human Resource Council’s pan-Canadian ‘Cross Sectoral Recovery Roundtables’ initiative.  As the pandemic’s impacts are proving viral in turn, it’s vital that the growing challenges facing the Heritage sector and its workers are better highlighted and addressed.

Together, we’ll work to forge new paths forward.

Take Great Care,

Catherine Lindquist,
Executive Director
