Ottawa150: Capital Time Capture Official Launch

The Capital Heritage Connexion was proud to launch our Ottawa150: Capital Time Capture initiative together with our partners Ontario 150, the City of Ottawa Archives and the Ottawa Public Library. The event was held prior to our special 25th Anniversary AGM beside the picturesque Ottawa Locks and Bytown Museum -celebrating their 100th Anniversary- and was a great success with beautiful weather!

Thank you to all our Members, guests, staff and volunteers who joined us. And special thanks go to our VIP guests Somerset Ward Councillor Catherine McKenney and Built Heritage Sub-Committee Chair Councillor Tobi Nussbaum, who joined me in providing words and cutting the ‘film ribbon’ to launch this legacy initiative.

We’re inviting the public to “leave a legacy” by capturing favourite places, spaces, people, or experiences in the Capital of Canada during its Sesquicentennial year and to share them on our PHOTOTTAWA150 Facebook page.

Some images will be donated to the City of Ottawa Archives for the discovery of future generations, and some will form part of a virtual exhibit featured on a revitalized Ottawagraphy site. Anyone without a computer or requiring assistance can, stop by any Ottawa Public Library branch to access a public computer.

We encourage Ottawa’s cultural community to promote this at/of your locations, special events and through your networks. Please post and share our poster and let us know if we might provide promo items or reps to assist by contacting [email protected].

Here’s looking at You, Ottawa!

150 Cheers,

Catherine Lindquist, Executive Director
