Florence Robinson’s Story

Meet Florence Robinson

Florence Robinson moved to Ottawa in the late 1950s; her husband followed later, and they raised their family here. As one of the earliest immigrants to Ottawa from the West Indies, Florence’s home became a welcoming space for newer members of the community settling in the Greater Capital Region. Although Florence participated at the beginning of the project, she became ill and could not do further interviews, so her story is shared below by her youngest daughter, Joanne Robinson.
