Doris Campbell’s Story

Meet Doris May Campbell

Mrs. Campbell was born October 9, 1923. She was among the first wave of young ladies who migrated to Canada in the early 1950s under the West Indian Domestic Scheme. She subsequently sponsored other family members who came to this country in the years that followed. Mrs. Campbell passed away June 6, 2015 after conducting initial interviews for the project. Although her interview was not preserved for the purposes of the project, she nevertheless played an important role in Canadian history and in a community where today she is very much missed.
