Ottawa-born skating sensation Barbara Ann Scott knew she wanted to skate from an early age. She joined Ottawa’s Minto Skating Club when she was seven years old and began to work towards her dream of representing Canada in the Olympics. In 1948, she became the only person to ever hold the Canadian, North American, European and World Championship titles and the Olympic gold medal simultaneously. Barbara Ann’s outstanding achievements and shining personality have led her to be a lasting icon of Canadian sports history.

The five-year interactive exhibit features photographs and memorabilia (including her Olympic gold medal) from her career as an amateur and professional figure skater. Visitors will see footage of Barbara Ann on the ice as well as listen to interviews with Barbara Ann, Figure Skating Olympic silver medalist Elizabeth Manley, as well as several Ottawa residents who supported Barbara Ann at the time of her skating victories.
