Capital Heritage Mentorship Program

The Capital Heritage Mentorship Program will connect experienced senior managers in the culture and heritage sectors, with new graduates wishing to embark on a career in heritage, and emerging professionals who wish to move their career to the next level.

The initiative will invite 8 developing professionals to participate in small groups (2 mentees and 1 lead mentor) in a strategic program to help transition and plan for the coming years.

Emergency Preparedness for Cultural Institutions – Canadian Conservation Institute Workshop.

October 17-18, 2018
This 2-day workshop discusses the importance of preparing for emergencies, shows how to form and train an emergency response team, provides guidance in creating an effective emergency plan and offers training in the salvage of water-damaged collections. The workshop is highly interactive and includes lectures, demonstrations, discussions, group exercises and hands-on activities.

This session will explore topics including programming trends, the new visitor experience, challenges and solutions to exhibit projects and some simple and low cost tricks to make your exhibits engaging and relevant to your audiences.

Practical Solutions to Everyday Archive & Collections Management Issues

What is a collections plan? How do you build a relevant collection? Is it okay to say “no” to prospective donors? This session will answer these questions while covering topics related to the management of collections. From planning and organization to collections development. Participants will leave with practical skills and knowledge that they can apply to the items in their care.
