Red Bull Crashed Ice and more

Well, March came in like a Red Bull followed by a red Lion (Spartacat)…

It was exciting to see the Ottawa Locks of Parks Canada’s Rideau Canal transformed for the Red Bull Crashed Ice track, and watch the event from start to the finish beside the Bytown Museum.

Heritage buffs recalled the giant ski and toboggan slide that was the highlight of the inaugural Ottawa Winter Carnival in 1922 and wished they could slide, if not speed glide, down the new one!
We went from steep slanted slopes to Sláinte! celebrating the luck o’ the Irish with the Irish Society National Capital Region at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Party as part of the Ottawa Irish Festival.
And then, from Sláinte to Stanley! fêting the 125th Anniversary of Lord Stanley’s Cup during the Stanley Cup ® Tribute events last week, which delighted many home town and visiting hockey fans.   Be sure to visit the Canadian Museum of History special exhibition Hockey, on until October 9th.
Spring is officially here, and we look forward to new beginnings, opportunities and heritage happenings in this Sesquicentennial year!
