Past Forward

Our Capital just passed another major milestone, as Ottawa’s now 1 Million plus population were able to access their new Light Rail Transit (LRT) system to traverse the city.  As featured in the Ottawa Citizen, it’s a long time coming since trams transported residents by rail from 1870-1959.

As we look still further ahead, the City of Ottawa is calling for citizens to have their say on the new Official Plan 2036.  Visit their webpage to learn more about and provide input on ‘5 Big Moves’ in five ‘quick poll’ surveys by September 30th.  And, talk to your Councillor about the important role Culture, and particularly Heritage, plays in our enviable quality of life and thriving economy!

Closer to present, take advantage of and mark your calendars for development opportunities, including:  the Archives Association of Ontario East/est Workshop on Archival Preservation and Updates in Preventative Care with Kyla Ubbink on October 4th at the City of Ottawa Archives; and the Ontario Museum Association Annual Conference Oct. 23-25, as well as grant funding deadlines – noted below.

And, check our calendar for a harvest of upcoming Fall heritage events!
