Thirteen Strings Presents “Mirage?” —
February 1 - 11:39
One of Canada’s leading percussionists, Beverley Johnston, will be gracing the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre stage as Thirteen Strings initiates its 2022-23 season on October 18 with Mirage? The vibraphone/percussionist will share a fulsome evening with John Burge’s CD release along with the familiar names Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky. The concert takes its name from Christos Hatzis’ Mirage? the “psychologically brilliant” and “moving” work that will powerfully showcase the percussion virtuosity of Ms. Johnston. The evening’s repertoire includes Antonio Vivaldi – Concerto in A minor RV 356 with Ms. Johnston on vibraphone. She will also play solo percussion on the aforementioned Mirage? Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings will provide a lighter, lush and romantic touch to the evening while John Burge’s Jig from Upper Canada Fiddle Suite, his new CD, will ably satisfy any tapping toes.
