Help the Canada Aviation and Space Museum launch World Space Week by exploring outer Space! They’ve teamed up with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) to celebrate the stars. Join them for a chance to look through a telescope — with RASC volunteers on hand to answer your questions. Weather permitting.
Other Space-themed activities at the museum:
October 6 to 8 (self-guided activity)
The solar system is a big place… a really big place! Take a spacewalk through the museum to understand just how big Space is. A scale model of the solar system —stretching across the entire museum floor — allows you to hunt for each planet. As you find them, look back towards the Sun in the lobby to see how far you’ve travelled!
October 6 and 8 (11 a.m.)
Kids can build a rocket ship, climb aboard, and blast off on a rocket adventure! Once in Space, kids put on their jetpacks, then go on a spacewalk to repair their ship. After a quick snack on the Moon, they’ll fly back to Earth!
October 6 to 8 (12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m.)
Explore the night sky and the solar system from the comfort of the museum! Planetarium shows will be offered by our trained staff.
BREATHING ON MARS
October 6 to 8 (11 a.m.)
Could humans breathe on Mars? Learn what the atmosphere on Mars is made of.
BETWEEN THE PLANETS
October 6 to 8 (3 p.m.)
Join this fun demonstration to find out what comets, asteroids, and meteorites have in common.
October 6 to 8 (10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
Roll up your sleeves and get ready for some star-quality craft activities! Kids can design astronaut helmets, Space scenes, mission badges and other Space gear.
