Film event: The Legacy Series

November 5 (10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)
Join us for a partial screening of The Legacy Series. This original documentary film series – shot by Canadian film students – showcases powerful, personal accounts of the Second World War, told through the lens of aviation. While it began as an oral history project focused on Canadian veterans, The Legacy Series grew to include the personal impact these stories have had on the students involved in its production. Participants of this event will have the chance to meet some of the individuals involved in the making of the film. Reserve through Eventbrite.

Feature displays

Canada 150 and Canadian military aviation

November 5 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Historical interpreters will be on hand to discuss how these artefacts relate to key events in Canada’s history.

Marc Paul Racine — First World War Historical Aircraft Reproductions

November 4 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Come and meet Marc Paul Racine – an avid model builder who has constructed over 450 model aircraft. Inspired by Manfred von Richthofen’s autobiography, Racine studies the lives of brave, young fighter pilots in the First World War. Racine will share his creations – along with interesting stories of their pilots, who risked their lives for freedom and a better way of life.

Flags of Remembrance

October 7 to November 18
The Veterans Voices of Canada, Flags of Remembrance pays tribute to the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces and Veterans in a visually stunning display of patriotism. Every year at the opening ceremony, 128 full size Canadian flags are erected along major roadways and other highly visible locations in participating communities, representing 128,000 Canadians killed and missing in action. Each flag is accompanied by a sponsored “hero plaque” recognizing and honoring individual Veterans, past or current serving… a tribute from family, friends and other caring people.
