On September 21, award-winning journalist, author and educator, Ira Basen, will speak on the subject of “Reconciliation and the Writing of Canadian History”. This free event is open to the public and will take place at Manotick United Church, 5567 Manotick Main Street, commencing at 7:30 p.m.
After becoming aware of a growing controversy among historians relating to reconciliation with indigenous peoples, Mr. Basen interviewed widely to explore a fundamental question: What role should historians play in advancing the cause of truth and reconciliation, and what stories will they tell. On September 21, he will share his findings and observations on this question.
