In 1907, Ottawa South, as it was known originally, was annexed to the City of Ottawa. The physical character of Old Ottawa South relates to its position between the Rideau River and Rideau Canal, and to subdivisions, bridges, roads and parks that followed annexation in 1907. Learn all about the area’s architectural, landscape and planning history while enjoying its many key historic buildings and natural areas. The tour departs from Windsor Park on Riverdale Avenue and ends at Linda Thom Park on Bank Street.
GUIDES: Architectural historian Julie Harris and local historian Kathy Krywicki are both contributors to the book Exploring the Built Heritage of Old Ottawa South.
