Goulbourn Museum to reopen next month

May 25, 2018
Stittsville Central

The Museum is officially reopening on the weekend of June 2nd & 3rd during Doors Open Ottawa with an open house and behind-the-scenes tours of the collection. After that we will fall back into our regular schedule of being open Wednesdays-Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

When we open we will have the exhibition Woven Through Time on display as well as a pop up exhibit entitled Exceptional Women in the War of 1812. Before the end of the summer a new outdoor exhibition will be launching – it interprets the Museum building, grounds, and the history of Stanley’s Corners.

We will be partnering with the 100th Regiment of Foot for the summer season and offering the Hands on History program which was a big hit at last year’s Father’s Day Flashback event. The schedule has yet to be finalized but the regiment will be onsite during both days of Doors Open, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (June 2 & 3). Visitors can register for training and learn how to fire a Brown Bess Musket and, pending approval, they can fire three shots for a total of $22. (The program is weather permitting as the muskets do not fire well in rain.)
