May is Asian Heritage and Museums month and it was a pleasure to join Asian heritage leaders at a reception hosted by Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez at the National Gallery of Canada.
We were also excited to launch our second Capital Heritage Mentorship Program with an added Internship component, and the support of the Ottawa Community Foundation, at the Ottawa Art Gallery. A great thanks goes to our Mentors for their leadership: Ashlee Beattie, Canadian War Museum; Jim Dean, Haunted Walk; Kyla Ubbink, Ubbink Book and Paper Conservation; and Chrissie Unterhoffer, Canadian Museum of History.
And, our warmest wishes go out to long time champion of heritage and mentor to many in Ottawa, the incomparable Grete Hale, on her milestone 90th Birthday!
With our Annual General Meeting approaching on June 19th, we are also seeking new Board members to help champion and lead our work – notably, candidates that reflect Ottawa’s diverse heritage and/or have special areas of expertise, as noted below. Join us in connecting Ottawa with its rich history and heritage!
