Advocacy

Advocating for our Members and the wider heritage community is an integral pillar of Capital Heritage Connexion. Throughout the year we initiate and engage in multiple advocacy campaigns with all three levels of government. 

A large portion of our advocacy work engages with our local municipal government the City of Ottawa, where we strive to serve as a bridge between the City and the heritage community. This relationship works both ways as we voice concerns, questions and needs of the heritage community to the City of Ottawa, and help inform our Members about services, programs and opportunities available through the City. 

A final aspect of our advocacy work is that which we engage in with our colleagues in the Ottawa Cultural Alliance. The Ottawa Cultural Alliance is comprised of umbrella organizations in Ottawa’s cultural sector who work collaboratively to strategically address shared opportunities and challenges to further advance the sector’s success. Members of the Alliance have collaborated for many years to advance cultural priorities in the City of Ottawa.
